Code of Conduct

Standards of Islamic conduct expected of every user on this platform.

Letaskunu exists to help Muslim men and women find a spouse through a process that is halal, dignified, and family-centred. Everyone on this platform — whether registering themselves or a family member — is accountable to the principles of Islamic conduct. This Code of Conduct defines the standards expected of every user and the consequences of violating them.

1.  Our Islamic foundation

This platform is built on the principle of finding tranquility in marriage as described in Quran 30:21. Every design decision, every moderation policy, and every community standard flows from this foundation.

We expect every user to approach the platform with sincerity of intention (niyyah), honesty in their profile, respect for the other party’s dignity and mahram boundaries, and seriousness about the Islamic marriage process.

The wali is not a formality on this platform. He is a structural participant. Any behaviour that attempts to bypass, pressure, or manipulate the wali process is a violation of this Code.

2.  Profile standards

You must

  • Provide accurate and truthful information in your profile
  • Upload a genuine, recent photo that is clearly you
  • Use the platform with sincere intention to seek marriage
  • For females: add accurate wali contact details and ensure your wali is genuinely aware of your participation on the platform
  • For family members: only register accounts for family members who have given their consent

You must not

  • Include phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, or any contact information in your profile fields — these will be automatically detected and removed
  • Upload photos that are not your own, use filtered or heavily edited photos, or upload group photos
  • Misrepresent your age, marital status, location, or any other profile information
  • Create multiple accounts or register after being banned or deleted from the platform
  • Register an account for someone without their knowledge and consent
  • Use the platform for purposes other than seeking marriage — including entertainment, curiosity, or commercial purposes

3.  Connection standards

Every connection request represents a serious expression of interest in the Islamic marriage process. The platform enforces one active connection at a time precisely because this should be approached with focus and sincerity.

You must

  • Contact the wali directly and through proper Islamic channels after a connection is accepted
  • Respond to check-in prompts honestly and in a timely manner
  • End a connection promptly and respectfully if it is not progressing
  • Select an accurate reason when ending a connection

You must not

  • Accept a connection with no intention of pursuing the process seriously
  • Ghost a connection — failing to respond to check-ins or end the connection formally
  • Attempt to contact the other party outside the platform before the wali introduction has taken place
  • Share the unblurred photo, wali contact details, or any personal information received through the platform with any third party
  • Take screenshots of female profiles, unblurred photos, or wali contact details
  • Pressure or harass the other party or their wali in any way

4.  Wali and family member standards

The wali and family members play a protected and honoured role on this platform. Their involvement is what separates Letaskunu from every other matrimonial platform.

Walis

  • Walis are expected to respond to the confirmation SMS within the 14-day window
  • Walis who are assigned a community wali role are trusted community members who have agreed to uphold Islamic principles of guardianship
  • Any wali who abuses their position — refusing reasonable matches without Islamic grounds, or using the platform to control rather than protect — may be reported to the platform

Family members

  • Family members must have the knowledge and consent of the dependent they are registering
  • Family members in a view-only capacity after the dependent takes over must not attempt to make decisions on the dependent's behalf
  • Male family members are strictly limited to registering daughters — not sons

5.  Communication standards

All communication facilitated through this platform must be conducted with Islamic adab — respect, dignity, and appropriate boundaries.

  • Do not send inappropriate messages, requests, or content of any kind
  • Do not make comments about a user's appearance, photo, or personal details that are disrespectful or inappropriate
  • Do not use the concern report system maliciously or falsely — this is a serious function and false reports are a violation of this Code
  • Do not attempt to identify female users from their alias name, blurred photo, or profile information

6.  What is not tolerated

The following behaviours result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban without warning:

  • Sharing, distributing, or republishing any unblurred photo, real name, or wali contact details obtained through the platform
  • Any form of harassment, coercion, threats, or intimidation directed at a user, their wali, or their family member
  • Attempting to contact a user, their wali, or their family member outside the platform without consent
  • Creating a fake profile, impersonating another person, or providing deliberately false information
  • Re-registering after being banned or deleted
  • Any sexual, explicit, or inappropriate content or communication of any kind
  • Using the platform to facilitate harm, fraud, or any unlawful activity

7.  Reporting and moderation

How to report

If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, you can report it through the platform at any time. When ending a connection, you will be given the option to raise a concern. You can provide details of what happened and optionally upload screenshots as evidence.

All reports are reviewed by the platform’s moderation team within 48 hours. The reported user is not notified that a report has been made while it is under review.

How moderation works

  • All reports are reviewed by a trained admin with appropriate Islamic understanding
  • The platform tracks patterns of concern reports — three or more concerns against an account within six months triggers an automatic review flag
  • Admin decisions include: no action taken, warning issued, temporary suspension, or permanent ban
  • Decisions are final. Appeals may be submitted to the platform by email.

Moderation principles

Moderation on this platform is conducted with fairness, Islamic principles, and the protection of all parties — particularly female users and their walis — as the guiding framework. We err on the side of protection. A profile that raises genuine safety concerns will be suspended while under review.

8.  Consequences of violations

SeverityConsequence
Minor — first offenceProfile flagged for review. User notified to update or remove the violating content.
Minor — repeatedFormal warning issued. Profile temporarily hidden during review.
ModerateTemporary suspension (7–30 days). All active connections ended.
SeverePermanent ban. All data deleted. Email and phone added to blacklist.
Critical (safety risk)Immediate suspension without warning. Reported to authorities if legally required.

9.  Platform integrity

Letaskunu is a waqf — a charitable Islamic endowment held in perpetuity for the benefit of the Muslim community. It will never be sold to a corporate entity. The platform exists solely to serve the community’s matrimonial needs in a manner consistent with Islamic principles.

Every member of this community has a responsibility to uphold the integrity of the platform. When you report a genuine concern, you are protecting the next person who uses this platform. When you conduct yourself with honesty and adab, you are contributing to a space the community can trust.

JazakAllahu khayran for being part of this.
